Five of the Best Fashion Show Collections of Fall 2016
Fashion Week always gets us excited, and after living through the runways of New York, London, Milan and Paris, we can certainly say that there are some jaw-dropping collections around this year. So, who took the starring role and came out on top? Read on as we take you through five of the best fashion show collections of Fall 2016…
Emilio Pucci FW16
To our eyes, Emilio Pucci’s Fall/Winter 2016 collection is undoubtedly one of the standout collections for the season. Words we would use to describe the latest line from the famous Italian fashion house? Dynamic, athletic, striking and colorful would be a good place to start, which pretty much sums up everything we’d like to be ourselves. Check out the clever play on proportions, the amazing oversized coats, cropped blousons and patchwork-pleated skirts. We think this is one of those fashion show collections you’ll remember for quite a long time.
Talking of unforgettable… Moschino’s collection for Fall/Winter is another standout line that’s sure to grab your attention. Granted, this one probably isn’t to everyone’s taste, but if you’re the kind of person who likes to rip up the rulebook every once in a while (or in this case set fire to it), you’ll love what Jeremy Scott has produced. For the unveiling in Milan, the Italian brand took us back to the Falò Delle Vanità (or “Bonfire of The Vanities”). Dresses with splintered shards of glided mirrors – and another that even featured a grand chandelier, were all seen against the shard remains of a once pristine palazzo. The collection is bold, daring and comes with a big dose of attitude. As Scott says, it is “hardcore glamour for a hard, hard world.”
Marc Jacobs FW16
They say that you should save the best until last – and in New York, that was certainly the case. Closing the show in the Big Apple was the unveiling of what we think is one of the standout fashion show collections for the season – the FW16 collection by Marc Jacobs. Take just a momentary glance over here and you somehow just know it’s something really special. Gothic, moody and dominated by shades of black and white, there are some truly gorgeous pieces to be found in this collection. The simple, minimalist backdrop of the runway show let the clothes do the talking, and somehow that’s only right.
Alexander McQueen FW16
If you’re looking for stunning eveningwear, Alexander McQueen FW16 is a collection you simply must pay some attention to. Classy black colors, glittering sequins and unusual details set this apart from other fashion show collections. Just check out the prints on the fabrics, which included objects such as butterflies, lips, eyes and even pocket watches. We love it.
Dresses worthy of Hollywood in the 1930s? Erdem Moralioglu’s stunning fall collection certainly contains some pieces that are worthy of making a starring role in your closet this coming season. Sumptuous velvet, subtle lace, golden tinsel and beautiful floral motifs all worked extremely well. We’ll take any one of the full-length dresses.
